Live videos are all the rage right now.  Facebook is showing live videos first in the newsfeed and friends are enjoying interacting and seeing your face.

But does the thought of going live make you break into cold sweats?  Let’s talk about some things you can do to prepare, research and plan out your live videos for maximum success.

Training:

First – why are you going live?  Make sure that you have a purpose in mind for why you are going live.  Are you doing a facebook sale?  Sharing about your latest vacation?  Talking about a huge achievement your team just reached?  Make sure that you know what you want to share so your video stays on track and meaningful.

Second – be yourself.  Let your personality show through.  Be professional but not TOO professional.  When you let your personality show through, your friends, family and anyone who might be watching you will get more of a feel for WHO you are.  They do business with people they know, like and trust.  By letting your true you shine, you are more relatable.  It makes more of a personal connection and that makes it more likely that they will make a purchase or join your team!

Third – do your homework.  This is going to be the MAIN part of the show today because this is how I have become more comfortable with Live videos and how I continue to find new ideas to use in my videos.

Watch the leaders – live vidoes are taking Facebook, Instagram and Periscope by storm!!  There are definite leaders that are killing it on Live videos.  Take some time and watch the videos they are doing.  Take notes on the things you do like and the things that you don’t like as much.  These are working examples of what to do and do well.

Food Network Star – This might sound like a crazy tip, but I’m only getting started!  I stumbled across the show, Food Network Star.  On this show, contestants compete for the final spot by cooking, doing videos, live videos, using social media and learning out to present themselves on camera.  The point is to find the person who will get their own show on Food network.

As you watch the episodes, you can see the contestants do videos, hear immediate feedback from the judges and learn what will capture and keep the attention of your audience.  Now, there is some drama because it is “reality TV” but the feedback from those judges and learning what makes a likable, relatable TV star is priceless information.

Watch a few episodes, take notes and implement those tips into your live videos.

QVC – Another place you can do some AMAZING research is on QVC or any of the other home shopping networks.  There is a reason why these channels are making money.  Why brands who get featured on these networks see amazing EXPLOSIVE growth.  They have been practicing and honing their selling skills for YEARS.  They know how to get you to spend $375 on a toaster that will also make you orange juice and iron your shirts.   The truth is, it works!

Watch some QVC while you are doing some laundry or bagging orders.  Again, take notes on what works.

One night, while I was doing some laundry, I took my own advice and turned on the home shopping network.  I was interesting to listen to the descriptions and maybe pick up a few tips.  It was pretty interesting but one item in particular grabbed my attention.  It was an ugly, itchy looking horse hair poncho.  It was something I immediately disliked and couldn’t believe that people were playing $350 for it!

I listened to the lady tell about the thread count and they colors available and then the camera switched to a model actually wearing the poncho.  And then the magic happened.  The hostess said, “Tina, didn’t you just have a baby 4 weeks ago?” and the model nodded. “Can you believe how amazing she looks in this poncho?!” the hostess continued.  “It hides all that post-mommy belly and she looks stylish and trendy! “

All of a sudden, in my mind, I said, “I’ve had 7 babies!  I need that in my life!” And this is when the alarm bells started going off.  Only seconds before, I was dead set against this poncho and then I was ready to pull out my credit card and get me an itchy, scratchy, ugly, overpriced poncho.

This instant shift in my mind made me take a step back and evaluate what had just happened.  The hostess had created a NEED in my mind. She had stopped talking about the thread counts or possible colors – she had enticed me with covering the less than flattering parts of my body.  By pulling in those personal details of her model, my mind made a shift too.  It made a connection.

Doing this in your live videos will make a HUGE difference too!  Stop talking about the fact that everything is only $5.  That it is nickel and lead free.  Instead, mention that in passing and then focus on WHY they NEED the item you are showing!  Is it the perfect way to complete an outfit?  Maybe it is a Go-To accessory that looks great with any outfit.  Maybe it’s a pair of earrings that works well with a pair of jeans or a little black dress!

Highlight WHY they need what you are offering.  Make that personal connection and you will make more sales.

This is just ONE of the things I learned watching a few minutes of the Home shopping network.

Can you see how doing a few minutes of research can be super valuable to you in your live videos?

Now I’m not saying that you should become a Paparazzi infomercial, but you SHOULD learn how you can make your videos stand out from the other consultants who are doing live videos.  Set yourself apart from the crowd.

Fourth – Timing.  When you are doing your live videos, don’t forget that we offer a whole lot more than $5 Jewelry.  During your live videos is a great time to sprinkle in information about hosting a party or joining your team.  Now notice, I said SPRINKLE.  That means just a little bit of those things, not a lot!  It also doesn’t have to be anything super elaborate.  Just a quick mention so that it is something that they are thinking about or so if it has been something they are thinking about, your quick mention might prompt them to take action!

Fifth – Look professional – This is something that has been covered in several Paparazzi trainings, but it is worth talking about again.  These videos represent you and your Paparazzi business.  This is not the time to be sporting no bra, your pjs or your messy hair.  Be sure to look nice.  Put on some make up and be extra sure that you are wearing your Paparazzi jewelry!  This is your business and you need to represent it as such.

By looking professional, you are telling others that you are serious about your business.  That you care enough about what you do to dress up and show up.  This goes a lot ways with your customers.

Nearly 85% of all communication is non-verbal and you don’t want to be judged before you even have a chance to talk about the jewelry or show your customers any of the amazing pieces you have available.  So be sure to let your friends, family and customers know that you are serious about what you do by the way you are dressed.

With just a little research and a little trial and error, you will be a pro-live-video-er in no time flat!  Give it a shot.

How to use Facebook Groups for your Paparazzi Jewelry business

If you’ve listened to my other trainings, I suggest using fan pages for your business, but what about a VIP customer group?  I think they are an awesome way to sell to your customers again and again.  Let’s talk about how you can use the power of Facebook groups to ROCK your business!

Training:

So a Facebook group is a fun, easy way to share with your customers when there are sales, specials, new products and just to increase your sales every month.  It is a fun way to stay connected and one of my favorite ways to do business on Facebook.  Let’s go over some DO’s and DON’Ts when it comes to using groups for your Paparazzi business.

DON’T add people to your group without their permission.  This is one of the BIGGEST mistakes that most people make.  Just because Facebook lets you add whoever you want into a group, doesn’t mean you SHOULD add anyone and everyone into your group.  ASK your friends, family and customers in a private message or even by posting on your wall a time or 2.  When they are given the opportunity to join, they appreciate the fact that you respect them enough to ask to add them into the group.

DON’T ask your friends to mass-add their friends.  I mean, it is nice to see that you have 8000 people in your group, but if only 2 of those people are buying, then it doesn’t do you any good.   It is much better to have a group of even 45 people if 38 of those people are regular, buying customers.  So don’t worry about having a lot of people in your VIP group.  It’s more about QUALITY not QUANTITY.

DO- post regularly in your group.  I recommend at least 6 posts a week.  AT least.  I try to post 2-3 times in my group each day.  This keeps customers interacting, remembering you and thinking about you and your products, which are all good things.

DO post things other than business all the time!  A funny meme or recipe is a neat way to add VALUE to your group and, again, keep your customers engaged.  Plus, is shows that you are a real human and not just a money making machine.  People buy from people they know, like and trust, so posting things that help them get to know you, like you, and trust you will help them come back to YOU again and again.

DON’T post 100 times a day.  Posting too much can be annoying and just bother even your best customers.  I like to keep my posts to 10-12 MAX a day in my VIP group.  Usually about 10 items for sale and then 1-2 non-business or funny posts.

DO post pictures of new items you have ordered that people can buy.  This keeps customers excited and gives them a kind of “dibs” before anyone else can.  This helps them feel special and gives them just 1 more reason to join the VIP group.

DO post old inventory items too.  Have a “blue day” or a “necklace day” where you post items that you have had in stock for a while.  Maybe your customer didn’t see those items yet or maybe they forgot they wanted to buy it.  Posting those images will get those products front and center and help you move those pieces out of your inventory.

DO post about hosting a party or joining your team.  Your customers already love the jewelry and you never know when the time might be right for them to host a party or join you team!

DO ask your friends or family and customers to invite people to join the group fun too!  Remember, we aren’t mass-adding, but rather, having them share your group or invite their friends in a personal message into your group.  This is a great way to make new friends and get new customers too!

DO have an occasional drawing, contest or game.  This keeps people having fun and wanting more!

DO be consistent!  Even if it seems like no one is buying!  One day you might have no sales, but sell over $300 the next day.  Don’t let the slower days get you discouraged.  Consistency is KEY!

DO post about your group sometimes and invite your friends to come join in the fun.  Also share the link to the group with your customers and at parties or events.  New group members increases your chance for repeat sales, so promote it occasionally.

DO name your group something fun.  Awnya’s Paparazzi Group isn’t near as fun as The Fabulous Five dollar Jewelry Babes or Bling Babes with Awnya B.

Facebook groups are a LOT of fun and a great way to interact with your customers.  Your group can be what you want it to be, all business, some business and some fun, or a great place for people to get to know you, make friends and shop for jewelry.  It’s up to you!

Challenge:

If you have a facebook group, post every day this week at least 2 times.  If you don’t, start one!!  You are going to love it!!

How to Use Facebook for your Paparazzi Business

Facebook is a great place to communicate with your friends, family and customers because it is a place where they are already hanging out.  Let’s talk about how to use Facebook to grow your business.

Training:

Before we jump into HOW to use Facebook for your business, let’s first cover some basics.

Facebook Terms and Conditions
When you first sign up for Facebook, you agree to only have 1 Facebook account PER PERSON, not per email address.  I know several people who have more than one account, and they are simply in violation of the terms they agree to when creating those accounts.

What’s the harm in that?  Well, if / when Facebook discovers this, their accounts (ALL of them!) will be deleted WITHOUT WARNING.  This means that all customers, parties, pictures, groups, fan pages, friends, messages, etc. are just GONE – for ALL the accounts!

So, if you are using Facebook for your online parties, to keep in contact with your customers and communicate with them – this would be DEVASTATING!

Another place that consultants like to do their business is on a group.  Groups can be a good place to communicate with your best customers (like a VIP group), but is something that can be abused really easily.  Since a friend can add you to a group, all it takes is a few people adding a bunch of friends who don’t really want to be in the group into it.  As those friends start seeing group posts and notifications, they get frustrated and report the group as spammy and BAM! – Facebook penalizes you!  I recommend that if you are going to use a group for your business, you keep it to an exclusive “invite only” type group and that you ask permission before adding people to the group.

How can I use Facebook for my business?

Facebook knows that we want to be able to use its powerful platform for our business, so it has made ways that we can do just that.

1- Groups – and not the kind you are thinking of.  You can actually group your friends, customers, hostesses, etc. into friend groups.  Then when you post, you can select the groups that see that post.  That way, your friends and family can see pictures of your dog or kids, but your customers and hostesses don’t.

2- Fan pages – This is THE place to conduct MOST of your business on Facebook.  This is where you should be creating your online parties, posting about your parties, new jewelry and business opportunity.  This is where you stay in contact with your customers!

Some people want to keep all of this on their personal Facebook timeline, but Facebook wants you to keep business stuff on fan pages.  Occasionally, you can still post business related stuff on your personal timeline too but the majority of anything business related should be on your fan page.

3- Another place you can post about your business is in Facebook groups.  Be sure to do your homework before going to blast a bunch of groups with the same message.  Make sure that you are posting in groups that allow you to post about your business and that you aren’t posting too much.  Another good rule of thumbs it to change your post from group to group rather than copy/pasting in to a bunch of different groups.  Facebook could flag you for spam if you post the same thing into too many groups or if you post too quickly.

Another reason why fanpages are a good idea is because of the insights that they offer.  Facebook tracks the interactions of your page with the people who like and visit it and make that data available to you so that you can continually improve it!  You can tell what posts work best as well as the day/times that your posts are most viewed.  Insights are only available on fanpages.

Fanpages are also public and indexed by search engines like Google and Yahoo, personal profiles (or timelines) or groups are not.  This means that as you are building your business on Facebook, you are also building it up in search engines as well which is just another great way people can find you and your Paparazzi Accessories business!
