Training:

If I were to tell you that by saying the word Stupendous 3 times a day would catapult your business to Rock Star success, would you do it?  Of course you would!  It sounds kind of silly and really easy, but I’m pretty sure you would make an extra effort to incorporate that word into your day AT LEAST 3 times, right?

Well, affirmation statements are JUST like saying the word stupendous except they are more customized just for you!!  Some people call affirmations “I AM statements” or “intentions” but whatever you call them, they are a powerful way to attract and create great things in your life.

Affirmations work by helping your mind to concentrate on a goal or something you want to attract into your life or business.

There are a lot of different resources and different experts that share the ways they do their affirmations. Here are some of my affirmations and why I do what I do.

1- I like to start my affirmations with “I am…”  That helps me relate my affirmations to me. I also helps my subconscious mind believe that the words that follow are about me.

Another powerful way to start an affirmation is to say the way things were. For example: “In the past, I’ve struggled to  eat healthy…”  When you use this, you are recognizing how things have been and then you can continue with “but now, I’m learning and growing and I am 100% committed to making healthy eating choices and exercising 3 days a week for 29 minutes.”

The trick to using this kind of affirmation is that you say the way that things were, THEN you need something to change.  You can use something as simple as “Then I joined Paparazzi” or “then I listened to the Papa Rock Stars Podcast”.  I’ve even had results saying something like “until I ate a sandwich”.  Seriously.  It doesn’t matter WHAT caused the change from the way things were it just matters that something caused a change.

2- How committed are you to this affirmation?  If you aren’t 100% committed to this affirmation you might want to go back to the drawing board.  Anything less than a FULL commitment allows room to wiggle or to not accomplish your goals and desires.  If you find that you are only 80% focused or committed to your goal, rework it until it is something that you can fully commit to.

3- Act As If.  This sounds a little funny, especially if you are a fan of the movie “clueless” where one of their favorite phrases was, “As IF!!”  But in all seriousness, what is life going to BE like when you reach your goal or when one of your affirmations comes into reality?  I’m guilty of thinking things like, “When I am a Fashionista, I will get a pedicure once a week” or “When I am an A-lister, I will do a weekly team training.”  Is that me acting as if?  Nope.

So for this step, decide the things that you would like to be doing WHEN you hit your goal.  So maybe you think that a weekly newsletter would be a good idea when you get a bigger team.  Start sending one now!  Maybe you think that you want to do a training call once you get 20 active team members.  Start doing one today.

Get the things in place that you want to be doing right now. This is your way of telling the universe that you are READY for the positive changes in life!  Plus, if you get in the habit NOW of doing things like a training call or a team newsletter or a daily training video, then once your team is bigger or you have hit Elite, you won’t have to try to make the habit THEN.  It will already be something you know how to do and are used to fitting into your to-do list.

4- Read and/or write your affirmations daily – I’ve kind of played with this idea both ways.  I really like to write out my affirmations 2 times a day, when I first get up and right before I go to sleep.  It helps my mind to focus on the things that I’m working for and gives my mind a chance to focus on them at night and it gets my day off to a good start by reading them first thing.

Reading them can be just as powerful, depending on what you prefer.  I’ve heard of posting them on your bathroom mirror, in your car, in the kitchen, etc. or even carrying a card with your affirmations written on it and reading it several times a day.

The important thing is that you are reading or writing them at least 1 time a day.  This helps your mind to focus and this will help attract the things you want into your life.  For an added level of commitment to this exercise, read them out loud every day.  I promise it works!

5- Be specific.  The more specific you can be about your dreams, intentions and goals, the more likely they are to appear in your life.  For instance, do you want a new car?  Go shopping for one.  Research the make, model and color you want.  Go take a test drive.  Take a picture of yourself in the car that you will own.  Then when you are going over your goals, you will know exactly what you want and it will be much easier to call it into your life.  If you are simply stating that you want a new car -that is to general and will have less of a chance of happening.

6- Include as many senses you can in the process.  For example, maybe your goal is to walk the stage at the next Paparazzi convention as a Fashionista.  What kind of dress will you be wearing?  How do the lights feel on your skin?  Are you wearing heals?  Flats?  Boots?  Barefoot? Are you crying, happy, both?  Is there something you can smell?  How do you feel?  Do you feel accomplished?  Overwhelmed?  Excited?  Terrified of tripping?  Close your eyes and experience that situation in your mind’s eye.  The more senses you can include the better.

That is why the example of the car is so powerful.  You are sitting in the car, smelling the new leather.  Feeling the warmth of the seats.  Driving it.  Feeling how you feel when you sit there.  Does it make you feel sexy?  Secure?  Confident?

By fully allowing you to experience as much as you can with your affirmation, you will have more of a connection to your goals and dreams.

7- Let it flow – There are several speaker/trainers who only recommend focusing on 3 affirmations at a time.  I have tried several ways and personally like having quite a few, like 20-ish as of this recording.  I read through them each day and I find that they things that I need most in a given moment hit me a little harder than the others or they have more meaning.  The affirmations I need on a given day have a way of finding their way into my mind and heart.  When I had only 2 or 3, I was definitely more focused on those, but I felt like I was lacking in other areas of my life.  Having more of a list of affirmations that has helped me to feel more balanced in all the areas of my life.

So, by let it flow, I mean to write down the things that are on your heart.  Don’t feel like this is the ONLY list you can ever have, because you can add to, change and tweak your affirmations as needed so that they are most meaningful to you.  I like to kind of do a “brain dump” where I write whatever comes to mind for 5-10 minutes and then I will make them into affirmations that are meaningful to me.  This way, I give myself some space to look at all areas of my life – business, personal, relationships, health, etc. and set out goals and hopes for each.

So you’ve had a party or an event and got some drawing slips.  Now what?!

A lot of times parties get a little crazy!  People are shopping, asking questions and checking out!  There isn’t as much time as you need to talk to them.  This is where your drawing slips come in so handy!  Give them a pen and drawing slip and ask them to fill it out as you are bagging up their order.  Walla! Now you have their information.

But this is where a lot of people get a little stuck.  What do you do with the drawing slips next?  It’s time for some Big MAC’s.  And no, I’m not talking about those golden arches.  Big MAC stands for Big Morning After Calls.  These calls are the key to creating more of a connection with your customers and the guests you have met at events.

So now you are probably wondering HOW to do Big MAC calls.  Don’t over think it.  Call and thank the guest for visiting your booth or for attend the party!  Thank you goes a long way and is a great way to build a connection and offer GREAT customer service.  So try saying something like:

Hi __________, this is ________________ with Paparazzi from __________’s party last night. (or from ____________ event).  Did I catch you at a bad time?  I just really enjoyed meeting you and wanted to say thanks for stopping by!

It really can be that simple.  Let the conversation progress naturally from there. You can ask a few questions if you feel like you are getting stuck:

  • Can you tell me what your favorite part of the party (or event) was?
  • You seemed to really love all the jewelry I had there last night and one of the ways I love to spoil my party hostesses is by getting them as many free pieces of jewelry as possible.  Would you want to host your own Girls Night Out party to get some of those pieces you didn’t get last night?
  • With all of the fun we had last night, I felt like you may have had some questions I didn’t get a chance to answer.  Was there anything about hosting a party or being a consultant you wanted to ask me?

When you call the day after the party or the event, everyone will still remember you and is excited to hear from you!  They will be happy to give you feedback if you ask!

Now you’re probably wondering how much time these calls are going to take you?  Usually only a minute or two per call.  It’s true!  It doesn’t take very long, but they WILL remember the effort you made!  AND, if you get another hostess or a new team member from those calls, don’t you think it would totally be worth your time?!

I first found Paparazzi about a year before I started.  One of my friends was having a home party and I went to support her.  I was the last one there and they started packing up as I was shopping.  I really, truly fell in love with Paparazzi then and even asked the consultant a lot of questions about her business and Paparazzi.   She never followed up with me!

About a year later, another friend was having a party and I knew 2 things.  1 – I had to get there early to get the best selection and 2- I LOVED the products!!  I went early and the consultant was still setting up.  It was kind of a dark time in my life, so I wanted to get there before anyone else came, so I shopped quickly and left before the rest of the guests arrived.  I chatted with that consultant about hosting a party and told her I would really love to host one for her.  She said she would call…and then she didn’t call either!!

The second consultant just got lucky that I still had her card when I went to join Paparazzi and happened to join under her – but imagine, I could have joined under someone else totally different!  Then we all could have been at convention and run into each other.  How do you think those consultants would have felt?  How would it make you feel if you had a customer sign up under a different consultant?!?  Calling your customers and keeping those lines of communication open will help make sure that if they DO wan t to host a party or join Paparazzi, they will think of you!

This “secret sauce” might be a little different than the kind you get on a hamburger, this secret sauce might be what will help you to set your business apart from the other people in your area AND help your team explode!

7 BEST Time Management tips

How do I get as much done as I do?  Well, here are my 7 Best Time Management Tips that when applied will help you get more done in less time!

People often say “the busiest people get the most things done” or “if you want something to get done, ask the busiest person you know.”  Why are these sayings true?  Because busy people know how to multi-task and prioritize activities!  Here are some of my tricks that I use to get more done.

1.  Multi-task When You Can

This can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people.  To me, I multi-task by cooking lunch and dinner at the same time.  It’s pretty easy to make some PBJ’s and fruit then chop veggies and throw it in the crockpot for dinner.  I figure, if I’m going to do something, I might as well do a little extra to save time later.

Another of my favorite things to do is to sit with my kids and snuggle while I do something else.  I’ve written thank you notes, brainstormed ideas to blog about, and made to-do lists….all while snuggling (and occasionally tickling) with my kids.  Win, win.

2. When Waiting, Don’t Sit Still

Everyday I go to pick up my kids from school.  In order to get a good spot in the “pick up lane”, I usually get there between 10 and 15 minutes early.  For a LONG time, I would check my email or see what was going on in Facebook land….Now, I take something to work on.  This is another nugget of time that you can totally rock if you think outside the box a bit.  Write a letter to a friend, call and set up doctor or dentist appointments, call and talk to a friend or family member who you haven’t heard from in a while.  When the kids get in the car, it’s a good excuse to end the phone call or task so it doesn’t cut into the rest of your night.

3. Decompress Regularly

There is something magical about decompressing.  Sometimes, it’s as easy as taking 10 minutes to sit in my quiet room and relax, other times its running to the store for milk ALL by MYSELF (!!), and then I have a monthly  Girls Night with my Bunco group.  Whatever the case, these little things help me regroup and be a little more effective in the things I need to get done.  Take a few minutes for YOU!!

4. To-Do Lists are a MUST

Have you ever sat down at the computer and then stared blankly at the screen thinking “I know I was going to do something…what was it….???”  This happens to me constantly!  When I have a To-Do list, I am much more focused in what I need and want to get done during a day.  AND if you are anything like me, my list is usually 1000 items long.  Put a  **  next to the 2-3 items that NEED to be done TODAY.  Anything else you get done is a bonus!

5. Enlist Help

My kids are great helpers…especially when we make a game out of something like putting away the laundry.  They try to put away their pile of clothes before I finish sorting it.  It is kind of funny and we all have a good time.  PLUS, it totally saves me from having to put it away for them.  Something as small as unloading the dishwasher or washing the table after dinner saves me a minute or two here or there and over the long run, really adds up.

6. Plan Ahead

Meals are a BIG time where I can save if I plan ahead a little bit.  For example, if I’m making baked chicken on Tuesday and chicken stir fry on Wednesday, I will just cook more chicken on Tuesday to make leftovers on purpose.  Then I don’t have to spend the time on Wednesday to cook the chicken!  I will also come home from grocery shopping and cook up the ground beef that will be going into meals like casseroles or used for tacos.  Once it’s cooked, I will freeze the pre-cooked meat.  Then when it is time to make the meal, dinner prep goes a lot more quickly.  Plus, in a crunch, I can instruct the hubby or the kids how to throw dinner together.

7. Let It Go

While this might seem like a sad nod to the movie Frozen, it is one of the tips I love most.  I always try to start a load of laundry drying or start the dishwasher as I’m going to bed for the night or leaving the house to run and errand and then I can let the machine do it’s job while I’m doing something else.  When I get home, I have clean laundry or dishes ready for me to put away.  Then I’m not sitting around waiting for them to run and it saves me time!

Selling vs. Sharing

I hear it all the time – “I’m not really good at selling things.”  Let’s talk about how to be a Shares-woman instead of a saleswoman.

When I think of a sales person, I kinda get an icky feeling in my mouth.  Maybe you know what I mean.  The image of that pushy, irritating used car sales person comes to mind.  They could care less about who you are or what is best for you and your budget.  They are ALL about the SALE.

It is no wonder that when we think of sales, we get the heeby-jeebies!  THAT is definitely not the kind of person that I want to be.  So let’s talk about some things that we can do to help us become people who SHARE and CARE instead.

Matching items –

One way that you can give your customers GREAT customer service and show them that you are all about helping them is to share items that match with them.  This sounds harder than it is.  It’s actually quite easy.  If you see them looking at a necklace that has a matching bracelet, walk over and let them know.  Say, I have the CUTEST bracelet to match that necklace while walking over to grab the bracelet and hand it to them (and here is the secret part!), now WALK away!  If you stand there and watch them, it makes them feel more pressured into buying the bracelet and necklace.  Walking away releases that pressure and gives them room to shop.  AND it also lets them know that sometimes you have matching sets so that if they ARE looking for a match a little later on, they will know they can ask you!

Give Compliments –

Whether you are at a party, event or just running errands, if you see someone who is doing something you like or is wearing something you like, let them know!!  You can never hear enough that your outfit or hair is cute!  It is a great way to spread a little love in your life and a great way to strike up a conversation.  If you are at a party or event, this is a great way to break the ice.  Compliments make the giver feel great and the receiver too!

Greeting guests –

When guests arrive in your booth or at a party, walk up and greet them!  Shake hands and ask their name.  This helps to break the ice and then they will know who to look for when they have questions or are ready to check out.   This help you know each of the guests a little better too.  You can strike up a conversation and get to know the guests a little better this way too.

Ask Questions – 

When you are getting to know your customers, there is no better way to find out more about them then asking questions.  Questions are another great way to find out if someone would be interested in hosting a party or joining your team. When you ask questions people feel less like you are forcing an option or opinion on them and more like they have a choice to say no.

Listen –

Its easy to overlook this item because it is so simple.  When you truly listen to what your friends and customers want, you will be able to help them much better!  This is a really easy way to let them know that you care.

Think for a second about telemarketers.  When they call, do they actually listen to what you are saying?  Nope.  Their job is to get a sale.  Regardless of what you say, they are to push through.  They are REQUIRED to get AT LEAST 3 no’s.  At least.  They will keep pushing and pushing until either you hang up or buy.  End of story.  And this is why telemarketers are a classic example of being pushy!  Sales over service.

Put your customers needs and wants above the sale and your business will explode!
