Like it or not, first impressions are everything when you are meeting new customers, hostesses and potential consultants.  What are some things we should consider when getting dressed in the morning?

 Dress for Success


Having a professional images helps communicate to others that you respect yourself, your job and even them!  When you dress for success, Success is what you will find. Plain and simple.  What you wear determines to a great extent how you act and treat yourself and others.

I remember watching an episode of a talk show that communicated this idea in a really memorable way.  There were 5 or 6 ladies that were brought in for a makeover.  They came to the stage in their “before” walk and were cursing at the audience, making faces and flipping them off.  They were rude, vulgar and had little respect for themselves and those around them.  They were soon whisked away for their makeover where their hair was styled, makeup applied, and clothes that covered more of their bodies were chosen.  Then they were presented for their “after” walk to the stage.  They were positively glowing.  They were smiling, walking respectfully and acting dignified!  The change was so stunning that you doubted if it was even the same person, but after hearing them talk it was clear that they were.  They admitted to feeling more confident and happy by dressing in clothes that were nicer.

Why is professional image important?

If you were going in for a job interview, would you wear your PJ’s or grubby clothes?  Probably not.  You want to make a good impression on the person who is interviewing you and let them know you are serious about the position you are applying for.  This is most quickly communicated by your appearance.

Studies show that you only have 7 seconds to make an impression on someone and in that 7 seconds, 93% of the other persons opinion of you is influenced by your tone of voice, appearance, body language and attitude.  Only 7% of their impression goes off of what you actually say!!  Are you starting to see why it’s important to present yourself professionally?

Another great reason for dressing to impress is because YOU are a blank canvas for displaying your latest and greatest jewelry!  You want the beauty of the jewelry to shine through and create interest without your customer becoming distracted.

The same is true for how you present yourself when you are at a party, out running errands, selling jewelry at an event or even talking to someone who is interested about joining your team.  You are constantly meeting people who potentially want to “hire” you whether it is as their jewelry consultant or team leader.  It is important that you communicate that you are serious about what you do with what you wear.

Professional image guidelines

Here are a few guidelines to a nice, professional look that is sure to impress!

  • Keep your hair clean and maintained.
  • Wear little or no fragrance
  • Flatter your body type
  • Keep shoes nice looking
  • keep nails clean and maintained
  • emphasize quality instead of quantity in clothing purchases

The 3 B’s

When you are getting dressed for a party or event, be sure that you cover the 3 B’s – literally.  The 3 B’s are Boobs, Butt, and Belly.  Having any of these hanging out is a big turn off for me and is seriously unprofessional.  No matter what, when you are representing your business, be sure that the 3 B’s are properly concealed.

How do I know how I should dress?

A good rule of thumbs us to dress one step above what you feel everyone else will be wearing. So if you are doing a party and guests will be most likely wearing jeans, a nice pair of slacks and a nice shirt will do.  Be sure your hair is styled and a touch of makeup as well.

Just like dressing too casual could be bad for business, dressing too fancy can have the same effect.

When you are leaving your house for errands, shopping, mailing or delivering orders or meeting with friends or potential team members, dress casual but nice.  A clean, well-fitting pair of jeans and a nice shirt will do just fine.  You don’t need to wear your finest clothes, but something clean, attractive and stylish will work to your advantage.

With any outfit, don’t forget to accessorize!  Like I mentioned before, you are a blank canvas to display what you sell, so use that to your advantage!

Make sure that you have at least 2 outfits that are business appropriate.  If you do, great job!!  If not, time to go shopping.

How to Use Facebook for your Paparazzi Business

Facebook is a great place to communicate with your friends, family and customers because it is a place where they are already hanging out.  Let’s talk about how to use Facebook to grow your business.

Before we jump into HOW to use Facebook for your business, let’s first cover some basics.

Facebook Terms and Conditions
When you first sign up for Facebook, you agree to only have 1 Facebook account PER PERSON, not per email address.  I know several people who have more than one account, and they are simply in violation of the terms they agree to when creating those accounts.

What’s the harm in that?  Well, if / when Facebook discovers this, their accounts (ALL of them!) will be deleted WITHOUT WARNING.  This means that all customers, parties, pictures, groups, fan pages, friends, messages, etc. are just GONE – for ALL the accounts!

So, if you are using Facebook for your online parties, to keep in contact with your customers and communicate with them – this would be DEVASTATING!

Another place that consultants like to do their business is on a group.  Groups can be a good place to communicate with your best customers (like a VIP group), but is something that can be abused really easily.  Since a friend can add you to a group, all it takes is a few people adding a bunch of friends who don’t really want to be in the group into it.  As those friends start seeing group posts and notifications, they get frustrated and report the group as spammy and BAM! – Facebook penalizes you!  I recommend that if you are going to use a group for your business, you keep it to an exclusive “invite only” type group and that you ask permission before adding people to the group.

How can I use Facebook for my business?

Facebook knows that we want to be able to use its powerful platform for our business, so it has made ways that we can do just that.

1- Groups – and not the kind you are thinking of.  You can actually group your friends, customers, hostesses, etc. into friend groups.  Then when you post, you can select the groups that see that post.  That way, your friends and family can see pictures of your dog or kids, but your customers and hostesses don’t.

2- Fan pages – This is THE place to conduct MOST of your business on Facebook.  This is where you should be creating your online parties, posting about your parties, new jewelry and business opportunity.  This is where you stay in contact with your customers!

Some people want to keep all of this on their personal Facebook timeline, but Facebook wants you to keep business stuff on fan pages.  Occasionally, you can still post business related stuff on your personal timeline too but the majority of anything business related should be on your fan page.

3- Another place you can post about your business is in Facebook groups.  Be sure to do your homework before going to blast a bunch of groups with the same message.  Make sure that you are posting in groups that allow you to post about your business and that you aren’t posting too much.  Another good rule of thumbs it to change your post from group to group rather than copy/pasting in to a bunch of different groups.  Facebook could flag you for spam if you post the same thing into too many groups or if you post too quickly.

Another reason why fanpages are a good idea is because of the insights that they offer.  Facebook tracks the interactions of your page with the people who like and visit it and make that data available to you so that you can continually improve it!  You can tell what posts work best as well as the day/times that your posts are most viewed.  Insights are only available on fanpages.

Fanpages are also public and indexed by search engines like Google and Yahoo, personal profiles (or timelines) or groups are not.  This means that as you are building your business on Facebook, you are also building it up in search engines as well which is just another great way people can find you and your Paparazzi Accessories business!

How to Find Events

A fun way to find new customers, possible hostesses and people who might want to join your Paparazzi team is at events!  They are a great way to get exposed to a lot of people really quickly.  Let’s look at how you can find events in your area.

REMINDER: Paparazzi Policies and Procedures only allow 1 Paparazzi Accessories booth per event – no exceptions.  Be sure to check with any event organizer and have them verify that you are THE Paparazzi gal for the event.  It is also a good idea to get a Event Vendor Agreement signed and dated just in case.  You want to be sure to cover your bases and protect the events that you have secured from other consultants…just in case.

1- Local Newspapers-

A lot of local newspapers have a calendar of events either in their print version, online or both.  This calendar is a great place to find local happenings and events.  Be sure to browse ahead a month or 2 to make sure you are seeing all the events coming up.

2- Chamber of Commerce

Your local Chamber of Commerce should also have a community calendar.  Some Chambers even host monthly meetings or events which are also a great place to meet new people, find out about local events and sometimes even set up your jewelry!

3- Other Direct Sellers

Do you have a friend who sells for another company?  Or maybe you have several!  Ask them what events they are doing.  They might have the inside scoop to several local events that you might not have found otherwise.  Talking to other vendors and consultants are how I have found some of my best events to date.  Not only can they tell you about upcoming events, they can help guide you to events that are more successful than other events.

Another benefit of getting to know other consultants better is that you will have friends at the events you are doing!  You can build a little community of vendor friends that will support and encourage you.  They could even become your best customers!

4- Events

Go to local events that you find, even it its too late to get into it.  You can talk to (and make friends with) other vendors and even talk to the organizer.  MOST organizers do more than 1 event, so be sure to give them your contact info and get theirs.  Then you can check back and possibly be invited to future events.

**Remember to do this ethically.  If there is already a Paparazzi vendor at the event, let them know you would like to be considered as a back-up option and not trying to take their place.  Most organizers will give preference to their current vendors for upcoming shows so if you try to take their place, you will just look underhanded and desperate.

5- Facebook groups

There are a lot of Facebook groups dedicated to vendors or finding events in your area.  Search for some groups to join in your area.  Join in the conversation and don’t forget to turn your notifications for that group on.  Then when someone posts about an opportunity in your area, you can let them know you are interested.  This is a great way to cover a lot of ground without even leaving your house!!

Don’t be Shy! 

The biggest thing to remember is to TALK to people. Get out there are let people know about your business!  Make friends and talk to people who are doing what you want to be doing.  Being friendly always pays off and could get you into some events that might otherwise be all booked up!

It is NEVER too early to talk to the organizer about the next show.  Some organizers will even take deposits for the next show AT the current one!  If they will, put down a deposit and get a receipt (these are good for proof of payment and a tax deduction!)  AND it is never too late to join in a show.  A lot of organizers have last minute cancellations and so a spot might open up.  Just let them know you can set up at the last minute if a spot opens up in a full event.

Setting Goals for your Paparazzi Accessories Business

Have you ever taken a vacation without planning where you are going or how you are going to get there?  Goal setting helps you know where you want to go and even a general plan on how to get there so that you don’t wander around with no direction.

Why are goals important?

One of my all-time favorite quotes is “An unwritten goal is merely a wish”.  As I mentioned in the intro, setting goals helps you to know where you are going and even sometimes how to get there.  Without goals, we can end up using our time less productively or bounce from one thing to another.  Goals help to guide us and keep us focused.

Goals also help us look towards the future instead of being focused on the past or present.  For example, if you have set a personal goal to lose 20 pounds before your class reunion, you are less likely to eat an entire chocolate cake than you would be without that goal.

What kinds of goals can you set for your business?

The kinds of goals you can set for your Paparazzi Accessories business are totally up to you.  Here are some examples of different goals you can have:

  • Sell ______ of pieces in a month
  • Advance in rank
  • Join the Crown club
  • Have ______  parties in a month
  • Have ______ events in a month
  • Help _____ new team members join your team
  • Earn ______ points towards the incentive trip
  • Walk the stage at convention
  • Attend Paparazzi Accessories convention in 2016
  • etc.

The goals you could possibly set are as limitless as your imagination!  Choose goals that are meaningful to you and that will help motivate you to ACTION but that are still attainable.

If you set goals that are too high, sometimes it’s easy to lose focus.  If you do have a lofty goal, set smaller goals to help you get to the larger goal.

When should I set goals?

ANYTIME!  A lot of people choose to set goals around New Year’s because the new year reminds us of new beginnings and that helps us want to be better people.  Yet, usually before March is over, we have forgotten those resolutions or moved on to something else.  Set your goals whenever you want to!  Sometimes I set goals for my day, week or month.

Another great time to set goals is when you have achieved a goal!  Take a moment to celebrate your accomplishment and then decide what your next step will be.  This will help you keep moving, growing and developing.

Should I share my goals?

Sharing your goals is totally a personal choice.  To be honest, there are some people that I share my goals with and others that I just don’t.  The people that you know will support your dreams and goals no matter what are the ones you want to share your goals with.  They are the ones who will help you keep focused and positive when things get rough.

If you have any “dream-stealers” or people in your life who tend to find every reason why you CAN’T or WON’T reach your goals, feel free to leave them out of the loop on this one.  The last thing you need is someone filling your head full of doubt and disbelief.

Another way to help make your goals a little more motivating is to POST them around your house.  Places like your mirror, bedroom door, or next to your computer screen are a few places where you will see them often and that will help remind you and motivate you to action.  You can even post them online if you want to!  Sometimes announcing that you are going to do something motivates you to get it done!

How Should I Set Goals:

I like to try to make my goals S.M.A.R.T.  –>

Specific – avoid generalities like “I just want to get stronger” or “sell more”.  Make your goals specific.  How many pieces of jewelry do you want to sell or how much weight do you want to lose or how many pounds do you want to bench press?

Measurable – how are you going to measure your goal?  Do you have a chart or something to document your progress?  How will you know when you reach your goal?  What time frame do you want to accomplish your goals by?

Attainable – We already touched on this briefly, but is your goal something you can do?  Is it something you have control over?  Making a goal to win the lottery is both highly unlikely and something you have no control over.  Be sure your goals are enough to make you stretch and grow, but not so big that you lose motivation or focus.

Realistic – Are your goals realistic or do they need a little adjusting?  If I set a goal to bench press 120 pounds in 2 months, that would be setting myself up to fail.  I would need to choose something a little closer to what I can actually achieve in my given time frame.

Trackable  How are you going to track your progress for your goals?  Do you have benchmarks to help you along the way?  How often do you want to check in on the progress you are making?  Something like “talk to more people everyday” is a great way to meet new customers or future team members, but it isn’t trackable.  Choose something more specific like “talk to 3 people daily about my Paparazzi business” and then you can track your progress from day to day.

By making sure that you are setting goals for your Paparazzi business and making sure they are SMART, I know that you will explode your business!

5 Questions Customers Ask Paparazzi Accessories Consultants

As a Paparazzi Accessories Consultant, I tend to get asked several questions by my customers over and over.  Here are those questions and the answers too!

If you have been a Paparazzi Accessories consultant for a while, these questions are probably some that you hear quite frequently as well.  If you are a new consultant, hopefully these can get you the answers you need so that when people as YOU, you will know the answers!

Question 1- Is everything REALLY only $5?

Answer: It really, truly is only $5!  I know it’s hard to believe, right!  But it really is ALL only $5 and it is nickel and lead free, so you shouldn’t get any funky skin reactions.  AND Paparazzi Jewelry is always super stylish and trendy so that you can look great without spending a fortune.

Question 2- Is Paparazzi Jewelry hypoallergenic?

Answer:  Paparazzi Jewelry is BETTER than hypoallergenic. Hypoallergenic jewelry can still contain nickel and lead, but Paparazzi Accessories are 100% nickel and lead free!  These 2 metals are what most people are allergic to.  Our jewelry and accessories are made out of a blend of metals, but mostly aluminum and steel.

Question 3- Do you have a Paparazzi Jewelry Catalog?

Answer: Our jewelry and accessories are so incredible and the demand is so high that we go through items too quickly.  The printers couldn’t keep up with us!!  While we don’t have a catalog, we do have cash and carry items that are constantly changing and an online Paparazzi Jewelry Store where you can shop whenever you would like and it will always have the latest and greatest Paparazzi Accessories.

Question 4- How often do you get new jewelry?

Answer: CONSTANTLY!!  My online website is updating all day long, adding new items for you to choose from!  Recently, some of the New Release items are selling out in as little as 10 minutes! This means that there are TONS of great styles and items for you to choose from everyday!  Paparazzi Jewelry and Accessories are in HIGH DEMAND and are FLYING off the shelves!

Question 5-  Where does Paparazzi Jewelry come from?

Answer:  All our Paparazzi Jewelry and Accessories are designed in Hurricane, Utah by our fabulous design team. The items are manufactured and assembled in China.  Online orders and orders being shipped to consultants ship out of our manufacturing warehouse in Hurricane Utah as well.

How to Book Your Calendar Up

A full calendar is a happy calendar and shows that a consultant is busy and growing.  Let’s explore how to book up your calendar for maximum success.

Schedule dates in advance:

Schedule the dates that you want to work in ADVANCE!  I’m talking like 6 weeks to 2 months in advance.  Simply take your calendar and highlight the dates you want to work.  You can get super fancy if you want to and do one color for home parties, another for online party dates and a 3rd for event dates, but the important thing is that you are CHOOSING when you want to work.

Now that you have the days that you work set aside, choose times too.  In my house, I know Tuesday evenings from 5:30-8 are my party times.  Every week.  I also have the occasional Wednesdays at the same time.  Thursdays, I do online parties because my husband has commitments that night.  I rarely offer daytime parties, so I have to schedule those special if someone wants one.

The important thing is that YOU are choosing WHEN you want to work — and well in advance …

Why is scheduling important

The first reason why scheduling is important is because we all lead BUSY lives!  It is easy to get so booked up with the regular day to day activities that your business falls by the wayside.  Scheduling the days/times that you will be working reserves that time for you to grow your business.

Reason number 2 is because scheduling when you work shows the people around you know that you are serious about your business.  If you were to work a regular job, you would have a schedule.  Whether it is at McDonalds or a corporate office, there are hours you are expected to keep.  These times are WORK times and it’s helpful to have those outlined for the other people in your life so that they know what to expect too.

The third reason is for when you need to schedule a party or show, you know EXACTALY when you can do it.  It is SO much better when someone wants to do a show to offer 2 dates rather than your entire calendar.  Too many choices can be overwhelming and could cause them to not book at all!!

And, as a bonus, it makes your Paparazzi Accessories business look do-able to others too.  When you say, “I only work 3 nights a week” and they can plainly see that on your calendar, it helps them think that they could maybe squeeze that into their schedule too!

Stick to your Schedule

So now that you have your scheduled working times – STICK TO THEM!  I can’t emphasize this enough!  If you come to a day you had scheduled to work and don’t have anything going on, lock yourself in your bedroom or kiss your kids and husband goodbye and go sit in your car or at the local Starbucks and then WORK!   You can use that time to call customers, hostesses and potential team members.  You can even call past hostesses or people who might want to host a party and try filling up empty dates on your calendar.

The important thing is that you STILL work!  It’s easy to grab a bag of chocolate or ice cream and sit home and watch TV, but this won’t grow your business.  Plus, it might send mixed messages to your family when you said you were working and you don’t actually work.

You are only as busy as you want to be

Ultimately, you are in control of your schedule.  If you want to work MORE nights, schedule more nights to work.  If life is crazy with sports or dance or other commitments, you can work less.  The choice is totally yours!
